New cuvée Bollinger PN

Bollinger's unique vision of Pinot Noir

This year, Champagne Bollinger is pleased to reveal the fruit of a lengthy work on its taste and terroir: the new cuvée Bollinger PN. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir, this innovative champagne expresses the unique vision of this specific grape variety by the House. The cuvée Bollinger PN is a new product that will be part of the permanent Bollinger collection. The VZ15 edition is its first interpretation.

Pinot Noir, a fresh interpretation of the Bollinger Style

“This cuvée made entirely from Pinot Noir is ingrained in what has become the very essence, the DNA of our House – an inimitable vision of an iconic grape variety and uncompromising efforts to fulfil the mission we started in 1829 as creators of taste.”

Charles-Armand de Belenet,
Chief Executive Officer of Champagne Bollinger

Pinot Noir, a predominant grape across the range, is a major pillar of Champagne Bollinger. With the creation of Bollinger PN, the House welcomes into its core range a second Blanc de Noirs, alongside the iconic Vieilles Vignes Françaises.

A unique expression for each edition

The aim with this new cuvée is to explore the taste of Pinot Noir and to bring to light its variety of expressions from several terroirs, each offering a unique taste.

Each new edition will enrich the Bollinger PN range, giving free rein to one main cru and one base vintage, so that each new version will be a fresh interpretation of Bollinger’s savoir-faire and vineyards.

PN VZ15: the elegance and vivacity of Pinot Noir from Verzenay

The PN VZ15 champagne is a blend with a unique taste, showcasing the specific characteristics of the Verzenay terroir, the main cru of its blend.

The significant proportion of Verzenay in this edition’s blend brings the characteristics of the Pinot Noirs grown in this terroir to the wine: depth, elegance and tension with a saline finish. Pinot Noirs from other villages – Aÿ, Bouzy et Tauxières – have been added to create an aromatic synergy and to bring further complexity to the blend.

The 2015 vintage, remarkable in Champagne and especially for Pinot Noir, is the foundation of the VZ15 edition. The reserve wines contribute to the wine’s exceptional aromatic intensity, largely thanks to the use of Pinot Noirs aged in magnums for almost 10 years.

Tasting notes

In the glass, this VZ15 edition opens with aromas of cherry stone, jam-infused fruit and dried fig. The rich, complex nose then develops towards toasted, baked notes as well as aromas of elderflower and pear. On the palate, flavours of peach and apricot are enhanced with hazelnut and acacia blossom notes.
