La Grande Année, the Art of Gesture

Assembly
An exceptional year that has produced a lively and generous wine
La Grande Année 2018 is a blend of 19 crus, mainly from Verzenay, Aÿ, and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ for the 66% Pinot Noir, and Chouilly and Cuis for the 34% Chardonnay.
Fermentation takes place entirely in oak barrels and maturation occurs under cork, with aging in the cellar lasting more than twice as long as required by the appellation rules. The dosage is moderate at 6 grams per liter.

Sensations
A confidential and memorable experience
During these exceptional years, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, sourced exclusively from Champagne's Grands and Premiers Crus, are vinified entirely in oak. The best barrels are then selected, blended, and bottled to begin a slow aging process on lees in the House's cellars. The bottles of La Grande Année are finally riddled and disgorged by hand, revealing a rare complexity and harmony.

To the eyes
A golden yellow color, reflecting the wine's maturity, but also Bollinger's winemaking methods.

To the nose
The initial nose bursts with fresh citrus and Granny Smith apple, enhanced by notes of orchard fruits: white peach, apricot, and mirabelle plum. When aerated, fresh almond comes through amid aromas of breadcrumbs and acacia honey. This aromatic harmony is organized around a beautiful central theme, where citrus and mineral notes mingle with a delicate touch of white peony.

On the palate
A structured and balanced palate, revealing notes of stewed fruit and quince. The texture gradually mellows, offering a creamy effervescence.

The taste of a truly gourmet wine
In 2018, texture and perfection of blends are still the order of the day. The creamy effervescence of La Grande Année pairs perfectly with fish, meat, cheese, and fruit. On the palate, complex citrus peel notes emerge. At its heart, the tasting experience is sunny, like a subtle reminder of the wine's color. A monochrome of flavors, the palette reflects Bollinger's Grand Vins.
